Privacy notice
Your CV stays in your browser
Local TCV is designed to minimize disclosure of sensitive career and application material. The site does not intentionally upload your CV, extracted evidence, application context, or drafts to its server or a cloud-model API.
Plain-language summary
- Your CV is read and the draft is created on your computer.
- No account is required.
- Google Analytics measures page visits and may set analytics cookies; it is not used to send your CV text, extracted evidence, application context, or drafts.
- Saving is off unless you turn it on. If enabled, your work is saved only in this browser.
- The site downloads the files it needs from the internet. Those download providers can see ordinary visit details, such as your internet address, but not your CV.
Local processing
PDF, DOCX, TXT, and pasted text are read by JavaScript running on your device. The selected language model runs locally through WebGPU. The application does not contain code that posts your source text or generated draft to a remote AI service.
You remain responsible for deciding what information to enter. Avoid unnecessary confidential, personal, Indigenous, community, partner, trainee, or third-party information.
Browser storage
WebLLM caches downloaded model files in browser-managed storage so later visits do not always require another multi-gigabyte download. Your browser controls this cache.
The optional “Save this workspace in this browser” setting stores CV text, verified evidence, selections, and drafts in IndexedDB on this device. It is opt-in and disabled by default. Use “Clear saved browser data” in Settings, or clear this site’s data in your browser, to remove it.
Network requests and third parties
The executable application, WebLLM runtime, PDF reader, and Word reader are pinned and self-hosted on this website; the page does not fetch executable JavaScript from jsDelivr or esm.sh at runtime. Google Analytics measures visits using information such as page URLs, device and browser details, approximate location, and interaction data, and may set analytics cookies. It is not configured to receive your CV text, extracted evidence, application context, or drafts. Fonts and model files may also be downloaded from providers including Google Fonts and model-hosting infrastructure such as Hugging Face. Those providers may log standard technical information under their own privacy policies. “Local AI” means your prompt and CV content are processed locally; it does not mean the first visit makes no network requests.
After the first successful load, a service worker caches the public application shell for offline use. It does not cache your CV, extracted evidence, drafts, or optional IndexedDB workspace. WebLLM manages model-weight caching separately.
Desktop option
Local TCV Desktop reads your CV and creates drafts on your computer. Your CV is not sent to this website or an online AI company. The app may download its writing helper from the internet, but your CV is not part of that download.
Technical details
The desktop interface connects only to the Local TCV service at 127.0.0.1. Ollama or llama-cpp performs the AI work locally. Model download hosts may receive standard download information, such as your IP address, but not your CV text.
Feedback form
The optional feedback form is the only place this site intentionally collects a message you type for the maintainer. It may send your comment, optional name, optional email, approximate time, IP address, and browser information by email so the report can be reviewed and abuse reduced. Do not paste CV text, trainee identities, or confidential application material into that form.
Anti-spam checks (including a short math question and automated bot traps) run on the server. Ordinary hosting logs may still record that the form page was visited.
Server logs
The website host may keep ordinary access and security logs, such as requested URLs, time, IP address, browser information, and error details. These logs should not contain your CV text because the app does not upload it.
Your choices
You can use guided mode without uploading a file, paste only selected material, leave optional browser saving off, clear saved data, and close the page at any time. Clearing browser site data may also remove downloaded model files.
Questions can be directed through the feedback form or to Sidney Shapiro.
